Independence Day vs. Fourth of July: What’s the difference?
The Fourth of July is a federal holiday in the United States that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776.
Independence Day is sometimes confused with the Fourth of July. However, Independence Day is actually the day that we celebrate our independence as a country, while the Fourth of July celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
While both holidays are important to remember and celebrate, they are technically two different days. So when someone says “Happy Fourth of July!” they are actually wishing you a happy Independence Day!
